
Michael J. King is a founding partner of the law firm of Winters & King, Inc., where he serves as the firm’s lead litigation counsel. Mr. King received his Bachelor of Arts from Texas Tech University in 1978, and Juris Doctorate from O. W. Coburn School of Law in 1982, where he graduated with honors.
Mr. King has extensive experience in representing business organizations, churches and religious organizations in liability related litigation and business planning. He has written and spoken extensively on potential exposure issues affecting churches and business organizations. Mr. King also handles all aspects of general business and corporate transactions, including contracts, professional negligence, construction law, injury law, etc. He manages appeals and arbitrations.
Mr. King has substantial courtroom experience and has negotiated numerous significant settlements for his clients across the United States. Mr. King was recently rated AV PRE-EMINENT, by Martindale-Hubbell which is the pinnacle of professional excellence, and the highest possible rating for professional skills and ethical standards for practicing attorneys. This honor is earned through a strenuous peer review process which involves the recommendation by selected Judges and attorneys across the entire country, together with investigations and multiple other criteria.
He is licensed to practice in Oklahoma state courts and the United States District Courts of the Northern, Southern, Western and Eastern Districts of Oklahoma; California, Colorado, Arkansas and Florida.
Mr. King presides as Judge of the Municipal Court of the City of Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Mr. King is enthusiastically involved in government and community activities outside the practice of law. He serves in various advisory capacities for legislation and supports many volunteer agencies throughout his community. Mr. King resides in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, with his wife, Karen, and his two children, Jacob and Jami.
